NGA-NGA!

Father Jerry rapes our kids!

WALANG LIHIM NA HINDI NABUBUNYAG!

GANYAN ANG GAWAIN NG MGA ALAGAD NG PAGANONG SIMBAHAN NG KATOLIKO, ANG MANGMOLESTIYA NG MGA MENOR DE EDAD AT GAWIN NILANG PARAUSAN NG KANILANG KAHALAYAN!

A new scandal is shaking the Aussie Church

A new scandal is shaking the Aussie Church

Police are currently looking into alleged cover-ups involving three senior churchmen

Accusations of cover-ups and blame-shifting by the Catholic Church in its handling of allegations of child sexual abuse by priests have been front-page news in Australia. Newspaper headlines such as “Senior Catholic Priests in Child Sex Cover-Up Inquiry” point to claims that the Church has attempted to hide possible sex abuse within its walls rather than reporting it to the police.
Whether these cases will stand up is yet to be proved, but investigators in the states of New South Wales (NSW) and Victoria are currently searching for evidence that in many instances priests were merely moved on. This is not unique to Australia. There have been far-reaching repercussions from court cases involving cover-ups in Ireland, Germany and America.
Two dedicated investigations by the NSW police, Strike Force Lantle and Strike Force Glenroe, are currently looking into alleged cover-ups involving three senior churchmen, including a bishop and an archbishop.

An MP has renewed calls for a royal commission. Last April in Victoria, following revelations of 40 suicides of abuse victims by two priests, the state government initiated a parliamentary inquiry into the failure of the Catholic Church to protect children from sexual abuse.

All members of the hierarchy vehemently deny the allegations. But even if subsequent court hearings come to nothing, they are re-focusing attention on the many priests already jailed for paedophilia.
There are no official figures, but since 1993 the charity Broken Rites alone has supported 150 cases which ended in prosecutions and are currently aiding another eight court cases. They have also handled 15 cases that ended without convictions and 128 out-of-court settlements. The abuse was so extensive that Pope Benedict, when visiting Sydney in 2008 on World Youth Day, made a public apology to victims in Australia.
Whether mandatory celibacy has contributed to abuse is now much debated. One lawyer remarked: “Total denial of sexuality can have terrible repercussions. Pent-up sexual tensions sometimes find an outlet with the easiest available target – sadly this is often children.”
The fact that celibacy is a matter of Church discipline, not part of Church doctrine, has been emphasised in the recent revelations of 49-year-old Fr Kevin Lee of Sydney, who has been married to a woman in the Philippines for a year.

Australian cardinal admits 'shame' over Catholic sexual abuse scandal

Australian cardinal admits 'shame' over Catholic sexual abuse scandal

The head of the Catholic Church in Australia, George Pell, has acknowledged the "shame" of child sex abuse among the clergy and welcomed a sweeping inquiry.
Yesterday, Australian Prime Minister Julia Gillard ordered a rare Royal Commission, the highest form of investigation in the country, into how churches, government bodies and other organisations have dealt with possibly thousands of child sex abuse claims.
Cardinal Pell, Australia's only cardinal, said the church would co-operate fully with the new inquiry, which can compel witnesses to give evidence and produce documents, and that he did not believe the Catholic Church was the main perpetrator.
"We are not interested in denying the extent of misdoing in the Catholic Church.
"We object to it being exaggerated, we object to it being described as 'the only cab on the rank'," he said.
"We acknowledge, with shame, the extent of the problem and I want to assure you that we have been serious in attempting to eradicate it and deal with it," he told reporters in Sydney.
Ms Gillard called the inquiry in the face of mounting political pressure after explosive reports that orders within the Catholic Church had covered up abuse claims and hindered police inquires over several decades in New South Wales and Victoria, Australia's two most populous states.
Cardinal Pell, who is also the archbishop of Sydney, denied the Catholic Church actively covered up any child abuse and said comprehensive procedures introduced in 1992 ensured full cooperation with police and swift action against alleged abusers.
"We will co-operate fully. We have nothing we want to hide," Cardinal Pell said.
The cardinal also said priests should refuse to hear confessions from suspected child abusers to ensure priests were not then bound by the confidentiality of the confessional.
"If the priest knows beforehand about such a situation, the priest should refuse to hear the confession. That would be my advice. I would never hear the confession of a priest who was suspected of such a thing," he said.
Yesterday, a former police officer who investigated child abuse for decades told Australian television the Royal Commission should examine aspects of the Catholic Church such as confession.
Former police officer Peter Fox sparked a nationwide outcry last week when he alleged the Catholic Church had covered up abuse by priests in the Hunter Valley region north of Sydney. His allegations ultimately led to the new inquiry being called.
Ms Gillard has yet to announce who will preside over it, or its terms of reference.
She hopes to finalise the details by the end of this year but has refused to set a time limit on the Royal Commission, which could run for several years.
The Catholic Church is Australia's largest, with 5.4 million followers, representing about one in four Australians.

Catholic Church in Australia reveals hundreds of child abuse cases

Catholic Church in Australia reveals hundreds of child abuse cases

The Catholic Church in Australia has confirmed that more than 600 children have been sexually abused by its priests since the 1930s, sinking the Church deeper into sex scandal.

The Catholic Church in Australia's Victoria State admits that its priests have abused at least 620 children since 1930s.

According to Melbourne's Archbishop Denis Hart, there have been an appalling number of victims back in the 1960s and 1970s.

However, victims' support groups have alleged that the number of children abused by clerics was likely much higher than that announced by the church and they have demanded independent investigations.

The recent revelation came after the Victoria State's government announced an inquiry into child abuse cases, which has also revealed that dozens of victims have already taken their own lives.

Chrissie Foster, mother of two girls who were raped by their parish priest from the 1980s, told ABC news that the church had decades to address the issue but never did until now.

"It's only been victims coming out and going to the police that has stopped all of this," she added.

Foster further noted that, "The church has never lifted a finger to stop their pedophile priests," adding that one of her daughters had ultimately taken her own life.

Recently the Roman Catholic Church has been rocked by numerous revelations of child sexual abuse at the hands of priests around the world.

Investigations have shown that clerics have sexually abused children in several countries in the past decades and that the church has often covered up the abuse, protecting pedophile priests.

Bishop Charged With Failing to Report Abuse

Bishop Charged With Failing to Report Abuse

CASE AGAINST KANSAS CITY'S ROBERT FINN IS A FIRST

A first in the Catholic Church's priestly sex scandals: A bishop in Kansas City has been charged with failing to report child abuse after lewd images of young girls were found on a priest's laptop, reports the Kansas City Star. A county grand jury also charged the diocese he leads with the misdemeanor. Bishop Robert Finn allegedly knew that priest Shawn Ratigan had taken hundreds of inappropriate images of girls—the indictment cites upskirt photos and at least one of a "naked vagina"—but sat on the information for five months before notifying police.

“This is a significant charge,” says Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker. “To my knowledge, a charge like this has not been leveled before.” The New York Times says it's the first indictment of a Catholic bishop in the church's 25-year scandal. Ratigan, the accused priest, was charged earlier this year with child pornography. A local principal had raised a red flag to the diocese about his behavior last May, but it went nowhere. Finn pleaded not guilty today: “We will meet these announcements with a steady resolve and a vigorous defense."

REPORT CONCLUDES THAT CHURCH HASN'T DONE ENOUGH TO HELP VICTIMS

Almost 2,000 Netherlanders have come forward as victims of sex abuse at the hands of Catholic priests, an independent commission's report revealed today. That makes the Netherlands the second-biggest victim of Catholic sexual abuse, behind only Ireland, according to Reuters. The report also concluded that the Church had not done enough to help abuse victims, and urged it to set up a system to compensate them.
“I am very respectful of the people who came forward because declaring yourself a victim is a big step,” said the former education minister who headed the commission. He said it was “too soon to say” if the report would lead to a shake-up in the church hierarchy. “But the bishops conference has asked us to look at managerial responsibilities."

Secret Vatican Edict: Don't Report Abusive Priests

Secret Vatican Edict: Don't Report Abusive Priests

The Vatican is scrambling to explain a secret 1997 edict rejecting an Irish Catholic Church proposal to report pedophile priests to the local authorities. The “strictly confidential” document, obtained by Ireland’s RTE television for a new documentary, said that reporting priests might give them grounds to appeal to the Holy See, which would be “highly embarrassing and detrimental.” One Irish bishop called it “a mandate … to conceal the reported crimes of a priest.”
At a 1999 meeting in Rome, Irish church authorities were reminded they were “bishops first, not policemen,” according to the Irish Times. Abuse victims in the US called the document “the smoking gun we’ve been looking for.” But the Church tells the AP that the document is being misinterpreted. The church, a spokesman contends, merely wanted to ensure that canonical law was followed precisely so priests couldn't avoid church punishments. Some priests, he explained, solicited sex in confessionals, meaning that under church law, it must be dealt with in secrecy.

Thousands of Kids Abused in Dutch Catholic Church

Thousands of Kids Abused in Dutch Catholic Church

Thousands of children were sexually abused in the Netherlands' Catholic organizations, says an independent inquiry, which concludes that church leaders didn't do enough to end the problem or help victims, reports AP. The inquiry estimates that between 10,000 and 20,000 kids were abused from 1945 to 1981 in church institutions, notes the New York Times. The abuse included "several thousand" cases of rape.
The conference of Roman Catholic Bishops in the Netherlands said it was "shocked" by the report. It "fills us with shame and sorrow," said the bishops. The commission that conducted the inquiry, established by a former government minister last year, found that Catholic organizations were hampered by "a failure of oversight." One issue was a tendency to deal with such problems within the organization rather than airing "their dirty laundry."

Priest Busted With Pants Down in Adult Theater

Priest Busted With Pants Down in Adult Theater

Father Mark Stewart Bullock went from priest at the Church of the Immaculate Conception to creepy guy standing around pants-less in a porn shop, Baltimore cops say. Police say they responded to complaints of indecent exposure and found Bullock, nude from the waist down, inside a movie theater at the store. He has since been removed from duty at his church, the Sun reports.
Bullock was on a couch, "his pants completely off," according to a police report; he "was not wearing any underwear and [was] exposing his penis" in a public area. He was arrested and charged with indecent exposure. The Baltimore Archdiocese removed Bullock's "faculties to function as a priest and initiated an investigation to learn more about the incident," reads a letter to parishioners.

Dutch Catholics Castrated at Least 10 Teens in 1950s.

The Dutch Roman Catholic Church castrated at least 10 boys under age 21 "to get rid of homosexuality" in the 1950s, according to a report from Dutch newspaperNRC Handelsblad. The paper identified one victim, named Henk Heithuis, who in 1956 claimed to have been sexually abused by priests. Two clergymen were eventually convicted, yet police sent Heithuis to a Catholic psychiatric hospital. While under church care, court papers say he was castrated "at his own request," but there's no written consent form.
Sources say the castration was designed to both cure Heithuis' sexuality and punish him for ratting out the clergy. He died in a car accident two years later. The paper said it had evidence of nine similar cases, but that they "are anonymous and can no longer be traced. There will be many more." The report has sparked outrage because the castrations weren't included in an official investigation into sexual abuse last year, the Telegraphreports. One Heithuis family friend relayed the story during the inquiry, but was ignored.

Catholic sex abuse coverup!

A Roman Catholic monsignor who became the first US church official to be convicted for covering up sex abuse claims against priests was sentenced today to three to six years in prison by a judge who said he "enabled monsters in clerical garb ... to destroy the souls of children." Monsignor William Lynn, the former secretary for clergy at the Archdiocese of Philadelphia, handled priest assignments and child sexual assault complaints from 1992 to 2004. He was accused of transferring pedophile priests in one of the country's largest parishes and keeping complaints out of the public eye.
"You knew full well what was right, Monsignor Lynn, but you chose wrong," Judge M. Teresa Sarmina said. A jury convicted the 61-year-old Lynn last month of felony child endangerment for his oversight of now-defrocked priest Edward Avery, who is serving up to five years in prison after pleading guilty to sexually assaulting an altar boy in church. "I did not intend any harm to come to (Avery's victim)," Lynn said. "My best was not good enough to stop that harm."
